Rockin’ All Over The World

2nd May 2019

She may be the youngest female Prime Minister in the world, but Jacinda Ardern’s style of leadership is so refreshing, that its attracting attention and applause from around the globe.

By her own admission, she’s deliberately empathetic and compassionate, something which she believes makes her a stronger leader – and, something for which she’s passionately proud. Of her critics, who judge that this makes her a weaker leader – she questions why we teach kindness, empathy and compassion to our children, but when it comes to leadership, we want a complete absence of that.

Jacinda Ardern isn’t on her own. Scores of business leaders, royalty, celebrities and rock stars are effective leaders because of their popular appeal – they understand the true value of engaging with people on an emotional level.

Take a handful of these – Kim Kardashian, Prince Harry, Oprah Winfrey and Bono. We may not always agree with the values or lifestyle they are peddling, but their warmth, sense of humour and courage means they’re successful in convincing their followers to not only buy into their image and brand – but to support them in championing the causes they believe in. These ‘transformational leaders’ have the ability to motivate, inspire and stimulate their followers to take action and get results.

Business leaders often quote the most challenging part of their job as leading their people. Some of the most inspiring names have talked openly about their struggles and successes in this area.

Take the late Steve Jobs for instance – he used this analogy for what builds strong businesses: ‘My model for business is the Beatles. They were four guys who kept each other’s negative tendencies in check. They balanced each other, and the total was greater than the sum of the parts. And that’s how I see business. You know great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.’

Like the Beatles, engaged teams of people can create incredible performance levels. And this is where we can step in. We can work with you to enrich your business leadership skills to improve and create ‘rock star’ performance levels across your business – in project management, health and safety and employee productivity – making a better tomorrow.
